MARILYN

This fiercely independent, 89-year retired political lobbyist and playwright was forced out of her low-income senior housing in Baltimore when it was sold to developers. She had been living in various hotels in San Diego for more than a year as she was having difficulty finding a suitable, permanent, low-income housing alternative. She was referred to us by a social worker at Serving Seniors and we worked intensively with her to explore options.

Nearly homeless and now volunteering at the library.

Marilyn was close to being forced to move into a homeless shelter as she had nearly exhausted her savings. She was fortunate to be fast-tracked into one of the two Potiker Family Senior residential facilities connected to Serving Seniors. Once she secured her apartment we were able to help her with all of the logistics associated with starting her new life here in downtown San Diego. She has since adjusted nicely and is volunteering at the local library and diving back into her writing.
